An 11-year-old girl has died suddenly after falling ill on a school trip to an outdoor centre.
Police said they are investigating the unexplained death near the village of Kincraig, Inverness-shire.
The girl, who was named as Ruby Dench, was visiting Loch Inch Outdoor Centre with a party of schoolchildren visiting from Northern Ireland.
She was a year seven pupil at Whiteabbey Primary School in County Antrim. Emergency services were called when she was found unconscious at around 2.30 on Wednesday morning after feeling unwell.
Attempts were made to resuscitate the girl but she was later pronounced dead at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Several of the children in the party reported feeling unwell, police said.
“As a precaution, some of the children who had also been feeling unwell were examined by a doctor,” a spokeswoman for Police Scotland said.
“None of these children had serious symptoms and gave no cause for any concern.
“The parents of all the schoolchildren who were at the outdoor centre at the time have been informed of the circumstances and reassured that there is no cause for wider concern.”
Police said the death is unexplained and that a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
