Former Olympian Liz McColgan reached an agreement to divorce her estranged husband yesterday.
Following a full day of negotiations at court in Arbroath, a mutually acceptable deal was struck between the Dundee-born distance runner and Peter McColgan.
The split comes just over a year after Ms McColgan was cleared of assaulting her husband at their home near Carnoustie and follows the liquidation of the their health club business.
Representing Ms McColgan, advocate Isabella Ennis spent the day locked in talks with her opposite number, advocate Kate Dowdalls.
Ms Dowdalls told the court: “I’m pleased to confirm the parties have reached an agreement in this case.
“A more extensive agreement is to be drafted between the parties and a joint minute will be completed in due course.”
Sheriff Peter Paterson recorded the dispute had been settled but said the case would need to return to court before it could be made official.
The case is due to call for final settlement on March 11 when the full division of assets will be decided.
