THE INCESSANT December deluge caused more chaos over the weekend.
Around 40 Stonehaven households were evacuated after the River Carron burst its banks. Streets resembled rivers with the water waist-deep in places.
In Perthshire, a major clean-up operation will be required after Coupar Angus suffered severe flooding.
Meanwhile, there were dramatic scenes in Cupar as, for the second time in just three days, the River Eden burst its banks in spectacular fashion.
Residents of the Sycamores housing development at Liff, on the outskirts of Dundee, watched in horror as gardens and driveways were swamped. Sandbags and barriers were used as fire crews battled to keep the rapidly rising water out of homes.
There was chaos across the roads network, with many major and minor routes closed. Train services were also disrupted following a landslip between Montrose and Aberdeen.
Forecasters are predicting drier weather today with only occasional showers.
