Arbroath charity dook organisers want to make a real splash

ORGANISERS OF an Angus New Year dook have made a final appeal for hardy entrants.
The Angus branch of Cancer Research UK are looking to surpass the 66 daring dippers who took part in last year’s event in Arbroath.
Now in its third year, the dook has become a town tradition and organiser Alana Louden is confident local people will turn out in force for Tuesday’s dip.
She said: “This is the third dook for this very worthwhile cause and it has grown each year.
“We would be delighted if we could make 2013 bigger still. It’s a great way to start your year with an exhilarating dook in the North Sea and every penny raised goes to Cancer Research UK,” Alana said.
Dookers and spectators are reminded that the venue for this year’s event has changed from Gayfield to the Arbroath Lifeboat Shed at the harbour at 1pm.
Registration is £5 per person and all participants will receive a T-shirt and a swimming cap for taking part.
