Husband of murdered Jane Cumming out of coma but still not fit to answer police questions

A father-of-two who was involved in a road crash on the outskirts of Dundee shortly before the body of his murdered wife was discovered at the couple’s home in Longforgan has awoken from his coma.
However officers have not been able to speak with Neil Cumming (45) as he is still unable to communicate effectively and is slipping in and out of consciousness.
Mr Cumming has been treated in hospital since a grey Volkswagen Passat estate, believed to belong to the Michelin worker, collided with a Mercedes lorry on the A90 Perth to Dundee road near the Landmark Hotel at around 11.45am on July 15.
On that day officers arrived at the family home in Longforgan, outside Dundee, to inform his wife Jane of the crash but found her dead. She had been stabbed.
Police believe the incidents are linked and have been waiting for Mr Cumming to recover consciousness to question him. However, given his condition, it is not thought he will be quizzed in the coming days.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said, “The 45-year-old man is still not in a fit state to be interviewed.”
Anyone with any information that could assist police inquiries should call 0300 111 2222 or speak to an officer.
