A gala evening with Sir Alex Ferguson at the Alhambra Theatre on Thursday is a sell-out.
The Manchester United boss will appear in conversation with a host of sporting names and will be reunited with some of those who knew him best during his time as a player with the legendary Dunfermline Athletic teams of the 1960s.
He’ll talk about his memories from his time at Dunfermline and his many managerial triumphs from his days at Aberdeen and Old Trafford.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Mary Leishman Foundation, set up in memory of the wife of another Pars legend, Jim Leishman, and a charity of Sir Alex’s choice.
Alhambra manager Simon Fletcher said, “We are absolutely delighted that Sir Alex Ferguson is hosting the gala evening.
“Sir Alex is as big a name as has ever graced the Alhambra stage, and I’m sure that football fans young and old will be enthralled to hear the great man speak about his fantastic career.”Develop potentialJim set up the foundation along with fellow trustees to provide funding for worthwhile local causes and help develop potential.
The Alhambra Theatre appointed the foundation their chosen charity for 2011, and are planning a series of fund-raising events to help raise funds and awareness for the charity.
Foundation president William Braisby said, “It is fantastic that one of the legends of world football is making an appearance on the Alhambra stage.
“When Mary Leishman passed away, Sir Alex called Jim to offer his condolences while on Champions League duty in Milan, which is very typical of the man.
“We very much look forward to what promises to be a wonderful evening.”
