A gang of criminals has raided Asda supermarkets in Tayside and made off with large quantities of Jack Daniels bourbon.
Police said the thieves, who have struck at stores in Dundee and Perth, may have come from eastern Europe.
One of the crimes took place around 1.50pm on Saturday at the Milton of Craigie outlet in Dundee the second incident there in a matter of days.
There have been similar thefts at the Asda supermarkets in Kirkton, Dundee, and Dunkeld Road in Perth.
A police spokesman said 14 bottles were stolen in the latest incident at Milton of Craigie.
He added: “They have concealed the alcohol beneath multi-packs of crisps before moving to another location of the store and transferring the alcohol to their own bags.
“This is the second time this store has been victim of such a crime in the space of a couple of days. Similar crimes have also been reported at Asda Derwent Avenue, Dundee, on Saturday and Asda Dunkeld Road, Perth, on Sunday.
“All these crimes have been committed by similarly-described suspects and on each occasion large quantities of Jack Daniels whiskey have been taken.”
