Around 100 children who are battling cancer have enjoyed a trip to the cinema with their parents and guardians thanks to a Dundee fund-raiser.
Charlie Kean took the group from Ninewells Hospital’s children’s cancer ward to see blockbuster Prince Of Persia at Cineworld.
The day out was a welcome relief for Pamela Conway, whose daughter Georgia (3) loved the whole experience.
Pamela said, “It’s great for all the kids to be out having fun, rather than sitting in the hospital again, focusing on the medicinal side of things.
“It’s just good for Georgia to mix with other children. They’ve all become such good friends, and Charlie is great, everyone loves him.”
Charlie said, “It’s been brilliant bringing them all together, in particular out of the hospital, so they are able to come together and speak about different things from the hospital.
“It’s bringing the whole community together, a lot of these families have had to give up work due to their children’s illnesses and a small thing like this can be something special for them.”
In addition to providing the screen and some free pick and mix for the children, Cineworld will donate a Marmaduke dog, given to promote the movie of the same name.
Charlie said the limited-edition cuddly toy is thought to be worth around £3000 and will be raffled off to raise money for the ward.
