Bizarre FOI query confirms Tayside Police has no need to trim haircut costs
ByNews reporter
It’s official Tayside Police has spent not a single penny on haircuts for senior officers in the past six years.
The prospect of the chief constable’s coiffure coming out of the public purse was clearly a matter of considerable concern for one member of the public.
The force has replied to a freedom of information request asking for the nitty gritty on hairdressing costs for senior officers over the past 10 years.
In particular, Tayside Police was asked how much had been spent, broken down by year and by the name and rank of the officer involved.
The inquirer was also keen to learn how much was paid for each individual haircut, details of the salons where they were carried out and each officer’s hairstyle requirements.
Details of the force’s policy on haircuts for senior officers were also requested, along with information on the budget from which the barbers’ bills were paid.
As it turned out, the inquiry was longer than the reply.
Explaining that in line with national requirements financial information is only retained for six years, the response confirmed that Tayside Police has incurred no haircut expenditure over that period.
