A taxi driver appeared shamefaced in the dock at Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday after trying to force a teenager to pay her fare in kind.

Christopher Doyle, of Dundee, will now be placed on the sex offenders register and faces losing his job after the late-night incident in October 2010.

The 44-year-old picked up his victim and her friend from Fat Sam’s nightclub in Dundee after they had been on a night out.

The friend was dropped off at her house first and offered the teenager a bed for the night, which she turned down.

The teenager then moved into the front seat of the car for the onward journey home.

As they neared Longforgan, the young woman asked to be dropped off at the bus station because she was ”really skint”.

The court heard how Doyle then revealed that he had given ”freebies” before, asking his passenger how she thought he had managed that.

She suggested that he asked for sexual favours in return for a free lift, saying that she ”wasn’t into that” and that she would rather pay the fare.

Undeterred, the accused said he would take her home for ”a tenner and a snog”, before driving past the bus stop at Longforgan and pulling over at a secluded spot.

Depute fiscal Carol Whyte said: ”The complainer then paid the taxi fare and the accused switched off the interior light, reached over and touched her right leg, running his hands along her inner thigh and attempted to kiss her. She moved her head away and opened the taxi door.”

Doyle followed her out of the car and pinned her against the vehicle with his body before groping and ”forcibly kissing” her.

She was able to push him away and started walking along the road, managing to reach the corner before breaking down.

When she arrived home, she was in a ”hysterical state” and her parents contacted the police, who recovered Doyle’s DNA from her body.

Doyle, of Wilston Place, Dundee, admitted on October 10 2010 at an unclassified road near Longforgan he assaulted a woman by touching her inner thigh, attempting to kiss her, using his body to press her against the taxi, forcibly kissing her, placing his hands up her skirt and touching her legs and genital area outside her underwear.

Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentence until August 29 and called for reports.
