The 75 years of service and comradeship given by the Arbroath branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland were celebrated and praised at an anniversary Drumhead service.
Sunday’s service was conducted in Arbroath Abbey by branch chaplain the Reverend Dr John Cuthbert.
He said the branch founded on May 19, 1935 had enhanced the life of the town by the care and support it gave to those who served their country.
Members of the branch, Colour Parties from other branches, representatives of 45 Royal Marines, Condor, the Territorial Army and Sea Cadets under the watchful eye of parade Marshall Kevin Proctor were piped to the abbey where the congregation was welcomed by branch chairman Major Steve Nicoll.
He said proceeds from the service would go to a new Legion Travel Fund to help relatives meet the cost of visiting loved ones away from home.
Jeff Smart played the last post and reveille, Pipe Major Ryan Kennedy piped the Lament and praise was led by Arbroath Instrumental Band.
The Act of Dedication was by branch president Lieutenant Colonel Ian Ballantyne and readings were given by the Earl of Airlie and Lord Lieutenant of Angus Georgiana Osborne, who, along with legion president Lieutenant General Sir Alistair Irwin, took the salute and march past after the service.
