A weekend of carnage on Courier country roads has claimed two young lives and devastated countless others.
One of the victims was 20-year-old Charlotte Tennant from Laurencekirk.
She died in the early hours of Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking home from a party amid heavy fog on the A90.
Police said the motorist did not stop but may not even be aware that they hit her.
Touching tributes have been paid to the care home worker.
School friend Stuart O’Donnell described her as a ”spontaneous” person, who was fun to be around and loved caring for others.
The 19-year-old said: ”She was always laughing and smiling. I don’t think I ever saw her upset. She worked at the care home and she enjoyed that sort of work she loved helping people.”
Neighbours also spoke of their disbelief, while a website set up in Charlotte’s memory was flooded with tributes.
There was also heartache in Perthshire, as the A9 claimed yet another life.
A young woman died when her car was in a collision with a stationary lorry in a layby near Dunkeld on Saturday afternoon.
The tragedies caused major headaches for motorists. There were long tailbacks as both roads were closed to allow accident investigators to examine the crash sites.
The Dundee United versus Aberdeen SPL match at Tannadice was delayed by 20 minutes as fans and players from the Granite City were held up by the A90 closure.
A police escort was eventually required for the Aberdeen team bus to ensure the players made it to the game. For full reports, see Monday’s Courier
