The Crown Office has decided not to pursue charges against a man accused of fireraising in Kinross.
A 58-year-old man had initially been charged with alleged fire-related incidents in the town but he was released from custody on Monday and did not appear at Perth Sheriff Court.
Kinross has recently been hit by a series of incidents, including a host of vehicle fires. There have also been fires in bins and derelict properties.
The Crown Office in Edinburgh confirmed it would not be proceeding with charges against the 58-year-old man in the meantime.
A spokesman told The Courier: ”The procurator fiscal at Perth has received a report concerning a 58-year-old male in connection with alleged incidents between November last year and January.
”After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the report by the procurator fiscal, the accused has been liberated pending further investigation.”
