A 150ft wind turbine could be built on the northern outskirts of Dundee.
Intelligent Land Investment has lodged a planning application with Angus Council for a site on grazing land at Barns of Wedderburn Farm, near Ballumbie golf course.
A written submission by ILI’s agents Waterman says: ”The location of the turbine was carefully selected to provide maximum power generation whilst not creating an intrusive landmark.
”The expected average windspeed is approximately 7.03 metres per second and is of a suitable threshold for renewable power generation.”
Waterman say the 225 kilowatt capacity machine would provide enough electricity to power 125 households, saving more than 250 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels annually.
The applicants say the site is far enough away from the nearest houses that the noise of the blades would be within guidelines and shadow flicker would not be a problem.
