Dundee University graduate Brian Dollin, who was left in a coma following a road crash which killed three of his friends, remained in a critical condition in a Mexican hospital last night.
Brian (25), from the Shawlands area of Glasgow, suffered serious internal injuries in the crash near Toluca and is understood to need urgent dialysis treatment.
The crash reportedly happened when the Renault Megane he was travelling in was hit by a bus travelling on the wrong side of the road.
Parents Joe and Carolyn are at his bedside and are doing all they can to have their son moved to a better-equipped medical centre.
Brother-in-law Stephen Bentley said Brian was still in a “very basic” hospital.
“His parents are trying to get him moved to a hospital that will be able to provide him with dialysis,” said Mr Bentley.
“Things are changing hour by hour, from morning to afternoon, and day by day, but the family are very, very concerned.
“At the same time there are so many questions about the crash, his insurance and things like that and no one is able to provide them with any answers.”
Brian graduated from Dundee with a degree in American studies and history in 2006 and has been teaching English in Mexico for the last 11 months.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokeswoman confirmed that consular assistance was being provided to the family.
