Swedish superstar DJ Basshunter is set to appear in court in Fife next month following allegations of an incident at a Kirkcaldy nightclub.
Basshunter, whose real name is Jonas Erik Altberg, was questioned by police over his alleged conduct during a personal appearance at Kitty McGuinty’s on Thursday night.
It is understood an incident took place within the nightclub in the early hours of Friday, with the 25-year-old DJ subsequently being charged with offences under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
He was released on bail and was back home in Sweden on Monday, although a police spokesman confirmed that Mr Altberg will be expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in the middle of next month.
“Police in Fife can confirm that a 25-year-old man has been arrested in relation to alleged offences committed at Kitty’s, Hunter Street, Kirkcaldy, and has been bailed to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in due course,” he said.
Dance music DJ Basshunter scored a UK number one single with Now You’re Gone in 2007 and was also a contestant on the final series of Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, making the final of the reality show and finishing in fourth place.
His manager Scott Simons insisted the allegations were “totally untrue” but stressed that his client would co-operate fully with police investigations.
