Warm summer sunshine greeted the hundreds of children starting primary school in Angus.
A total of 1,283 children from across the county made their first steps into formal education, including 21 sets of twins.
Carlogie Primary School, Carnoustie, welcomed three sets, including Ayley and Chloe Hirsch, two young girls who suffer from cerebral palsy but have undergone life-changing surgery funded in part by the public.
Three sets of twins also walked through the doors of their new school for the first time at Ladyloan Primary in Arbroath, with a further two sets of twins starting their school careers at Langlands in Forfar.
Angus council’s education spokesperson Sheena Welsh gave a warm welcome to children, parents, carers and teachers as they begin the new school year.
