Flooding at Montrose caused delays to trains on the Aberdeen to Dundee line.
A statement on Scotrail’s website, posted at 10:08am said: “Due to flooding between Aberdeen and Dundee train services through these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes.
“An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.”
A passenger on a southbound Scotrail train from Aberdeen, held at Stonehaven, said: “Severe flooding between Montrose and Laurencekirk means our trains from Aberdeen are staggered.
“We’re being held here by signalmen until further info comes through.”
Services resumed to normal on the line in the afternoon
