A man and two dogs were helped out of a flat in Angus following a fire.
Three fire engines attended a blaze in the residential area of Castle Street, Montrose following reports that fire had broken out in flats and people were still inside.
One man was treated for smoke inhalation and the animals are understood to be unharmed.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “There were three appliances in attendance as persons were reported inside and one casualty was removed, along with two dogs at 4.40pm.”
An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “We were asked to attend by Fire and Rescue around 4pm.
“We treated one male casualty on the scene but he didn’t need to go to hospital.”
