A puppy with a problem is at the centre of a Country Country campaign to raise thousands of pounds for vital hip replacement surgery that will transform his life.
Young Labrador/Staffordshire cross Tye faces a life of severe pain and potentially crippling arthritis due to difficulties with his hind legs, but charity volunteers hope dog lovers will rally to help fund the £6,000-£8,000 needed for the specialist operation to help the “waddling” pet.
The seven-month-old pup came into the care of Angus Dog Rescue, whose volunteers very quickly realised the bright young animal had a major mobility problem.
Charity chairman Ian Robb explained: “Tye is a great young dog but he has hip dysplasia in both back legs and that is really restricting his movement.
“He’s a young dog and you can see how frustrated he is, but he just cannot behave like a normal pup and the quicker we can get him an operation to fix this problem the better.
The charity, based near Arbroath, has taken expert advice on the best way forward for the brindle cross and believes a complex and expensive double hip replacement op is the best way forward.
