A Forfar minister completed a 12-hour marathon service to raise vital church funds.
The community turned up throughout the day to support the Rev Barbara Ann Sweetin’s challenge at East and Old Parish Church.
During the service, which took place from 8am to 8pm, she conducted 24 Bible readings, 24 sermons and led 70 hymns.
Businesses had also supported the fundraising venture by sponsoring each hour of the service and congregation members paid £10 to sponsor their favourite hymns.
Office-bearers were also placed on a rota throughout the marathon.
Barbara said the way she got through it was thinking of it as 12 one-hour services.
Normally a sermon is between 15 and 18 minutes but she wrote longer ones of around 25 to 30 minutes.
Barbara came up with the idea in October and hopes to have raised at least £1500 towards the church’s renovations, which could cost more than £1 million.
Music was provided by Bruce Simpson, Elizabeth McLeod, Margaret Anderson and Jean Smith.
