An Angus man who was involved in a row with his wife was placed on a community payback order with supervision for 12 months at Forfar Sheriff Court.
Jamie Thom, 26, c/o Millfield Road, Arbroath, admitted that on December 14 at Elm Hill, he shouted and swore at his wife and kicked a door, damaging it.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said a minor argument broke out over housework, which escalated into a full-blown row.
She said Thom began shouting and swearing at her for 10 minutes and she threatened to call the police.
Ms Drummond said Thom’s wife wanted to end the relationship because she was unable to deal with his mood swings.
When he was upstairs, she took his keys so he wouldn’t have access to the property if she kicked him out.
Thom demanded his keys back when he returned from upstairs but she repeatedly told him “no”.
Ms Drummond said he continued to ask her becoming more and more angry.
He then kicked the living room door, causing damage to it and went into the hall.
She could hear him banging around and was “extremely alarmed and shocked” by his behaviour.
She then phoned the police. He made no reply to caution and charge when police arrived.
Solicitor Brian Bell said his client was now staying with his parents until matters are “hopefully resolved”.
Mr Bell said his client was remorseful with regards his behaviour.
Sheriff Ferguson imposed a 12-month community payback order with supervision, as recommended by the social work department.
He also ordered Thom to participate in the Fergus programme a specialist probation programme for people who have been convicted of offences involving domestic abuse.
