A woman has launched an anti-speeding campaign after her beloved family pet was killed.
Jane McGinley said she was left heartbroken after she witnessed her cat Jerry being run over by a driver near her home at Ballumbie Castle estate on the Angus/Dundee border.
The 54-year-old child-minder has warned that it could be a child hit next time and claims that speeding has become common near to her home.
One of the measures being sought by the Ballumbie Castle Residents’ Association is additional speed bumps to be installed at Silver Birch Drive.
Jane said: “I’m afraid when I cross the road with children.
“It was a cat this time but it could very well be a child in future.”
The estate sits within the Angus Council boundary and Jane is now working with the residents’ association to persuade it to put in new speed mitigation measures.
A council spokeswoman confirmed they had no record of speed mitigation measures being raised for the area.
