A Forfar father has admitted smashing up a games console and television in a drunken family bust-up.
Edward Hoy also lashed out at his wife of 13 years as he struggled to get up off the floor of the kitchen in their Taranty Road home during the incident last November.
The 55-year-old will be sentenced next month following the preparation of a criminal justice report after a sheriff noted a 2011 offence in which Hoy was at the centre of a siege incident in which firearms officers were drafted in to the Angus town.
Appearing before Sheriff Pino Di Emidio at Forfar, Hoy admitted assaulting his wife at their home by kicking and punching her leg and attempting to punch her.
He also pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening manner by repeatedly shouting and swearing, and damaging a television and PlayStation.
The court heard Hoy was described as being a heavy binge-drinker and had been at home drinking vodka.
He became aggressive towards one of his teenage daughters and the incident was overheard by Mrs Hoy.
She went downstairs to try to calm him down but he punched her leg and kicked out at her. Mrs Hoy then helped her husband to his feet, but he once again became aggressive and started shouting.
Defence solicitor Bob Bruce said his client had appeared from custody on November 27 and been subject to bail conditions for almost a month, which had presented difficulties in him contacting his wife.
Sheriff Di Emidio deferred sentence until March 12.
