A long-established feature of the cultural life of Montrose, the amateur operatic society, is in danger of a permanent exit off the musical stage unless new members can be found.
The society, which has been in operation for 49 years, is sadly depleted to only 14 members though their passion and commitment remains strong, demonstrated by their determination to forge ahead with rehearsals for their forthcoming show.
A Variety of Colours, scheduled to run in the Montrose Town Hall this Friday and Saturday, features songs which have colour as a theme and promises some surprise guest appearances.
The show is planned to serve as a fund-raiser for the society’s March production of the popular musical Singin’ in the Rain for which they will be running a workshop on Sunday, October 31, from 2pm to 4pm.
The hope is that all budding singers and dancers of 16 years and over with aspirations to perform will go along and be part of a much-loved show.
