Mike’s Buggies keeping youngsters on the straight and narrow

A mature Angus student is driving ahead a new community project aimed at getting young people off the streets of Angus.
Angus College engineering student Mike Rennie, of Arbroath, is using his welding skills to urge young folk to sign up for a project to design and build off-road buggies as a positive alternative to drugs and alcohol.
Alongside his classmates, he has raised some funds to support the Mike’s Buggies project and is keen to harness other local backing.
“I really wanted to give something back with a community project it has been a great way to put the welding skills gained here at college to good use. Working with the Oyster Trust we hope to get young people involved in all stages of producing these buggies.
“I hope that this kind of activity will be a constructive outlet for them and will help them to develop more positive behaviours and attitudes.”
