Tayside celebrities took part in a fund-raising walk for Angus twins Ayley and Chloe Hirsch.

Former Dundee United player Dave Bowman and ex-United and Dundee star Lee Wilkie joined Dundee boss Barry Smith and runner Liz McColgan for the sponsored hike, organised as part of a drive to pay for life-changing surgery for the young cerebral palsy sufferers.

Lloyd Daniels, who appeared on the X Factor, was involved in the walk along Broughty Ferry Beach to Castle Green, joined by chart newcomer Carrie Mac and Stirling Albion manager Jocky Scott.

The twins will travel to Missouri, USA, to undergo an operation to remove the spasticity in their limbs.

Ayley is able to move with the aid of a specialised frame, but Chloe cannot walk at all-meaning the smallest things, such as going to the shops or the park, can be hugely challenging for the family. A campaign by their parents, Averil Fleming and Fraser Hirsch, has already raised more than £70,000 towards an £80,000 target for the trip; however, further funds will be required for aftercare.

The walk was organised by local charity Cash For Kids, which is assisting the efforts by organising a string of events and covering the appeal with broadcasts on Radio Tay.
