The final event in Arbroath’s Year of the Light takes place on Friday.
A Year of the Light Ceilidh will be held at the Meadowbank Inn, Arbroath. The evening will feature dancing to the Inchcape Ceilidh Band, dancing displays, and music by members of the Royal British Legion Arbroath Pipe Band.
The Year of the Light has been hailed as one of the most successful community events ever held in the town with highlights including a variety show, a regatta, a fireworks display, a limited edition single malt whisky, an art exhibition, projects by school children and Bell Rock themes to the Seafront Spectacular and Seafest.
Boat trips to the Bell Rock lighthouse also provided Angus with a tourism boost with visitors from as far as China and Brazil flocking to the town.
The Year of the Light began with the fireworks display held on February 1 exactly 200 years after the beam first shone from Bell Rock Lighthouse.
A major highlight was a visit by Princess Anne to reopen the Signal Tower museum, the original shore base for the lighthouse.
This followed a £450,000 refurbishment with the displays now concentrating on the story of the Bell Rock.
A small number of tickets are still available for the event from Iain Grimmond on 01241 875297.
