A taste of the Mediterranean could be coming to the Angus coast if a planning application to transform an empty pub is given the go-ahead.
Angus Council is looking at proposals to redevelop the empty Golf Inn pub in Park Avenue, Carnoustie, which closed last year.
The plans, if successful, would aim to turn the establishment into a licensed Mediterranean restaurant with a takeaway.
The application, submitted by James Paul Associates in Broughty Ferry on behalf of the applicant, is for a restaurant for up to 76 people, plus a smoking shelter and a service area.
Roddy Paul, a partner at James Paul Associates, said the name of the applicant could not be revealed, but confirmed the company was working with an experienced operator to bring the new eatery to the town.
He said: ”We are working with an established, successful restaurateur. If planning is approved, the food would be Mediterranean. It will be high-quality, healthy food and we are working with an established operator.”
He also stressed that proposals are in the early stages.
