An investigation has been launched after a car was found on fire in Carnoustie.
Police have appealed for witnesses following the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to the town’s Tommy Armour Place to deal with the blaze, which was reported at around 5am.
Firefighters from Carnoustie were at the scene within a few minutes, using one hose reel jet, a dry powder extinguisher and a breathing apparatus set to put out the flames.
The fire was brought under control within around half an hour and the crew left the area shortly before 6.30am.
A probe is now under way to establish the cause of the fire, which caused significant damage to the vehicle.
A spokeswoman from Tayside Fire and Rescue said the car had been well alight and that a quantity of diesel had been found on the road and was later washed away by police.
