Angus Council has sent a maintenance team to Brechin Cemetery after graves began to subside.
The local authority had received complaints from angry family members after several plots began to deteriorate following the recent cold weather.
Additional concerns had been raised over access to the graves, which can only be gained via a muddy field that has been churned up by vehicles driving over the grass.
A series of boards were laid out by the council for visitors to walk over the boggy ground, but these were left piled up at the end of last month.
A spokeswoman for Angus Council explained that work to prevent graves from subsiding is carried out on a regular basis after cold or wet conditions.
She added, “We are aware of sunken graves at Brechin Cemetery and are currently undertaking remedial work as conditions allow.
“During inclement weather it is difficult to consolidate ground after a burial and we have to top up the levels, sometimes more than once. Recent snow and frosts have prevented us from doing so.”
A total of 19 graves were affected and were repaired by the council at a cost of £300.
