Acting head appointed at controversy-hit Angus High

A new acting head teacher has been appointed at a controversy-hit Angus secondary school.
Bruce Pandrich, depute head at Montrose Academy, has taken up the Arbroath High School post, some four months after the suspension of the school’s head teacher Gillian Rew.
Mrs Rew is understood to remain the subject of a criminal inquiry after she was charged over allegations relating to a school trip last autumn.
The former depute rector at Dundee’s Morgan Academy was suspended from her post by Angus Council in the wake of claims made following the sixth-year trip to Lockerbie in September.
In November, police confirmed that a 47-year-old woman had been charged in connection with an incident on September 21 at Lockerbie.
The nature of the charge facing Mrs Rew has not been revealed by police but The Courier understands it does not relate to supplying alcohol to minors.
