Police have launched a major investigation after a 75-year-old man was mugged in an early-morning incident in Arbroath.
The pensioner was targeted between 7am and 7.30am on Friday as he walked along Annesley Drive, close to the junction with Arbirlot Road.
Two men, described as being around 6ft and wearing dark clothing, threatened him before making off in the direction of Viewfield Road with a small sum of money.
It is believed those responsible could have spoken with foreign accents.
Local politicians have united to condemn the attack and they are urging anyone with any information to come forward to police.
Angus councillor David Fairweather said that if anyone was uncomfortable approaching officers directly he would contact them on their behalf.
The police can be contacted on 0300 111 2222.
