An exhibition of Pictish and Celtic-inspired art by Perthshire designer Larry Scrimgeour opened at the Pictavia centre near Brechin at the weekend.
It is Larry’s first public showcase and runs until Sunday, June 12.
“I have been fascinated since boyhood by the mysterious ancient art of my native Scotland,” said Larry, who lives in Blairgowrie. “Without any formal training I began copying the patterns on tombstones and monuments and can now produce my own, original work.
“All of the pieces exhibited incorporate a single strand motif, without beginning or end, symbolising eternity and infinity one of the outstanding features of Celtic art.”
The next Pictavia event will be a free Storytelling Saturday on June 4 from 2-4pm, the first in a series to be held on the first Saturday of every summer month this year.
