A 26-year-old Montrose man was incoherent, unsteady on his feet and drooling when stopped in his car by police, a court heard.
Craig Michael Duncan, Baird Way, appeared from custody before Sheriff Kevin Veal at Arbroath Sheriff Court.
He admitted driving while unfit due to drink or drugs on December 24 on the A935 Brechin to Montrose road, Western Road and High Street, Montrose.
Depute fiscal Arlene Shaw said that, at around 3.30pm, two witnesses saw Duncan driving very erratically, weaving over the road and striking pavements. They called the police.
“Once they stopped the accused, he was incoherent, unsteady on his feet and there was drool coming from his mouth,” she said.
Solicitor Billy Rennie said Duncan was being prescribed medication.
Sheriff Kevin Veal fined him £300 and banned him from driving for two years.
