A Game of Thrones star is coming to Angus later this month to appear in a short film directed and produced by people from Tayside.
Scottish actress Kate Dickie has starred in Red Road and Prometheus and appeared as Lysa Arryn in the hit HBO fantasy series.
Now she is coming to the Carnoustie area to star in a short film called Natalie in which she plays a person who has undergone a sex change and returns to her hometown for her father’s funeral.
It is directed by Mikey Murray and produced by Lisa Nicoll, both of whom grew up in Kingennie.
Mikey has directed several short films and won a Scottish BAFTA in 2008 for his writing while Lisa, who is also an actress, works as a producer at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow.
“Kate Dickie stars as a person who has undergone a sex change who is coming back for her father’s funeral she left as a man and she’s coming back as a woman,” said Lisa.
“Most films in Scotland are filmed in the central belt but we wanted to come to Angus as it has a great feel about it.”
Lisa added they are looking for people to appear as extras during the shoot in Angus between March 31 and April 2.
“We are looking for around 20 extras to appear in these scenes and they’d have to be available on the Thursday and Friday.
“We’re also looking for one of the extras to come with their dog. We are looking for a people of a variety of ages but they all have to be aged over 18.
“Acting experience isn’t necessary we’re looking for people with enthusiasm and a great deal of patience.
Lisa added that she would also be grateful of anyone who could supply a bed for a member of the cast or crew during the shoot.
The film will also star Dundee-born River City star Robin Laing and once it is completed will be submitted to film festivals around the world.
Kate Dickie has previously spoken of her enthusiasm for appearing in the short film.
She said: “It is really honest and raw and truthful and I really loved the story and the subject matter of the film.
