ByRichard Watt
Concern over a possible missing person spurred Coastguard rescue teams to be scrambled in Angus.
Personal items belonging to a local man were found near the Arbroath cliffs area on Wednesday night, which prompted a search effort until he was later seen in the town.
Inspector Williams of Police Scotland’s Tayside Division confirmed the volunteer lifeboat and Coastguard had been stood down after the force’s initial concerns had been allayed.
Earlier in the evening, the Scottish Ambulance Service was tasked to the Commonwealth Games venue at Barry Buddon on a medical matter but the incidents are thought to be unrelated.
