A hi-tech medical pod, tailor-made to help patients take control of their own lifestyle checks, has been officially unveiled at a Carnoustie primary care centre.
The device was purchased through a generous donation from practice patient, the late Jean Stefani, in memory of her husband Ugo, who requested that the money be used for the benefit of the people of Carnoustie.
The machine has proved extremely popular with patients at the Barry Road surgery since it first appeared earlier this year.
It allows people to take their own blood pressure, height and weight, as well as lifestyle checks for issues such as smoking and alcohol consumption. No appointment is necessary.
While the pod affords patients privacy, it is linked up to the GPs so that any concerning readings can be quickly followed up.
Retired GP Dr Gordon Crosby spoke fondly of Mrs Stefani, and Carnoustie Community Council chairman Arliss Rhind officially unveiled the medical pod in the company of health centre GPs, staff and patients.
