Arbroath High School headteacher remains suspended

Arbroath High School’s headteacher remains suspended amid an ongoing investigation into allegations she behaved inappropriately during a senior school trip.
Gillian Rew did not return to her post this week following the end of the Angus schools’ autumn holiday break.
Mrs Rew, a former depute rector at Morgan Academy in Dundee, was suspended at the beginning of this month over allegations of drunken behaviour during an S6 excursion to Lockerbie a couple of weeks previously.
The senior pupils were on an outdoor adventure trip and it is understood a complaint was made about the senior figure’s behaviour in front of pupils at an early stage in the weekend.
Angus Council previously confirmed a member of staff at Arbroath High had been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into an alleged incident, but did not identify that figure as Mrs Rew.
A council spokesperson has now confirmed that the staff member remains under suspension.
Mrs Rew has not been available for comment on the matter.
In the wake of her suspension, pupils at the Arbroath school used social media to speak of their high regard for the headteacher.
