A bus conductor and driver have been praised for their actions after a woman collapsed on a service between Angus and Dundee.
The bus was travelling from Carnoustie to the city when the conductor discovered an unconscious passenger.
She then alerted the driver of the service 73 Stagecoach bus and an ambulance was called. The driver also visited a doctor’s surgery for advice while waiting for paramedics. The condition of the passenger was not known.
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach Strathtay confirmed the incident had happened on Monday, on a bus which left Carnoustie around 8.30am.
She said: “While operating on route 73 between Carnoustie and Dundee, our conductress noticed that one of our passengers was unconscious.
“She alerted the driver and called an ambulance. The driver also visited a nearby doctor’s surgery for advice while awaiting the ambulance.
“We’re thankful for the quick thinking from our staff and hope the passenger makes a speedy recovery.”
One passenger took to Twitter to praise the actions of the bus driver for her part in helping the stricken woman.
Gerry Grant wrote: “Fair play to the driver and conductor on the bus. Remaining calm under pressure.”
Most Stagecoach 73 services run between Arbroath and Ninewells Hospital via Carnoustie and Monifieth.
