A new fast food counter has opened in Carnoustie, creating 12 jobs.
Subway, in partnership with Spar, opened an outlet in the High Street shop.
It is the sixth Subway counter to open in a Scottish branch of the supermarket chain.
Spar manager Murray Ferguson said the food has proved a hit with local high school pupils.
“There’s nothing like this being offered in Carnoustie that I’m aware of,” he said.
“The queue was all the way back to the main tills and, although it was very difficult to judge how many people there were, it was very encouraging to see.”
The brand is looking to double its number of franchises this financial year.
Area manager Paul Howie said: “Spar is always looking to develop its business and this is why Subway is a good fit for us.
“The state of high streets has been in the news for quite a while, with charity shops and such like filling up the empty spaces, but we see Subway coming in as a very positive move.”
Subway said that it is actively seeking businesses to lease space to trained franchisees.
While the addition of a Subway has been welcomed by some in Carnoustie, others are concerned about the effect of a national chain moving into the town and have pledged to continue to support local bakeries and fast food outlets.
