A pair of drink-drivers from Angus have been banned from the road.
In separate cases before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar, Daniel McPhail, of Easter Braikie Farm Cottages, Friockheim, and Ouissem Jaballah, of Little Nursery, Montrose, were in the dock after late-night incidents.
McPhail, 20, appeared for sentence after the court heard earlier this week how he had met a police van while going the wrong way round a roundabout.
He was leaving Montrose after a night out to celebrate his girlfriend’s pregnancy.
He had made it as far as the Ferryden roundabout on September 7 before encountering police driving into town, forcing them to brake severely before they saw McPhail’s car leave the road.
He had an alcohol reading of 75mics, against a legal limit of 35.
Sheriff Murray banned him for 16 months and imposed a £400 fine.
Jaballah, 37, was seen going up a one-way street near his home at around 2am on March 9 having been drinking at a local bar after finishing work as a chef in Edzell.
His breath alcohol level was 64mics.
Defence agent Nick Markowski said Jaballah has no plans to consume alcohol again and lost his job as a result of the offence.
Sheriff Murray fined Jaballah £400 and banned him for 12 months.
