Deep-fried snowballs join Carron Fish Bar’s sweet selection

The home of the deep-fried Mars bar has thrown a seasonal treat into the fryer of the famous chipper.
As Stonehaven waits for winter, the Carron Fish Bar has built up a stock of snowballs to tickle the festive taste buds.
The shop put itself on the map after battering the Mars snack and serving it up, sparking a trend that has seen chip shops across the country popping chocolate bars in the deep-fat fryers.
Carron boss Lorraine Watson said the latest suggestion actually came from singer Eddie Reader, who asked for the snack when she was filming in the seaside town.
“We had a trial run and they were very successful. We got in a couple of boxes and they went down really well.
“We’ll add snowballs to the range and plan to sell them at Christmas,” said Lorraine. “It’s all a little bit of fun.
“We bought the shop three years ago and inherited the home of the deep-friend Mars bar, but people really do come from all over the world to try it out.
“We do Crme Eggs at Easter, and this is another bit of fun.”
