Jingle bales: Angus farm presents a Christmas field of dreams
ByThe Courier Reporter
An Angus family are hoping to bring some Christmas cheer after transforming hay bales on their farm into a festive display.
Fleur Baxter, of East Skichen Farm, created Santa, a snowman and Rudolph pulling a sleigh with the help of her children Hannah, 16, and Owen, 12.
Her previous displays by the side of the B9128 Forfar to Carnoustie road include Despicable Me minions, Angry Birds and, for Halloween, a pumpkin and a spider.
Fleur, 43, said: “My husband Campbell put the bales in place with a forklift then I had another spray painting session with my children.
“I’m quite a creative person and I wanted to do something fun and bring a smile to people’s faces.”
The snowman’s nose is a road cone, Rudolph’s ears are made out of jute sacks and his nose was part of a pipe.
Santa’s sleigh was made with the help of a joiner.
She is hoping to replace Rudolph’s antlers, currently made out of wire, with a real antler from a gamekeeper.
“What I’ve spent on spray paint, I wouldn’t like to tell you, but it’s worth it if people smile” Fleur added.
“My sister-in-law somewhat affectionately has named me Balesy.”
