Still time to join Carnoustie and Arbroath New Year dooks
ByRob McLaren
New Year dookers in Carnoustie and Arbroath are preparing to take the plunge.
Arbroath’s dook takes place at 1pm from the lifeboat station, where changing facilities will be provided.
The entry fee of £10 for adults and £5 for children will go to Cancer Research UK. Some participants have also raised additional sponsorship money. Last year’s event raised £3,900 for the cancer charity.
People can still sign up for the event on the day at the lifeboat station before 12.30pm. A registration form can also be downloaded from dookarbroath.weebly.com.
Fancy dress is encouraged and hot refreshments will be provided by the lifeboat ladies’ guild.
The Carnoustie dook takes place at the town’s beachfront, beside the paddling pool at 12.30pm. Dookers should meet at noon.
The event is organised by Carnoustie HSFP RFC and entry forms will be available on the day.
Dry clothes and towels should be brought and participants should note there are no changing areas.
