Laurencekirk flyover campaigners hope 2015 is ‘the year’
ByThe Courier Reporter
Laurencekirk junction campaigners are praying 2015 will be the year the Government finally backs a flyover.
Florist Jill Fotheringham started pressuring politicians for action after she become tired of producing wreaths for victims’ families.
The A937 is the only A-class road on the A90 without a graded junction, and has long been known as notorious and dangerous.
Jill said: “Will 2015 be the year our Government finally sees sense and announces a flyover to be built on the A90 at the South junction of Laurencekirk? We would love to hope so.
“After all these years of campaigning, it’s hard to imagine that they will ever make the announcement, but maybe with the study being done and developers being held to ransom a bit we could be getting a step closer.”
A meeting will take place at Dickson Memorial Hall, Laurencekirk, from 2 to 8pm on January 21.
There will be a consultation meeting with consultants CH2M HILL, who are carrying out a traffic survey for NESTRANS.
