It happened at 10.15pm near the Rosely Hotel, just north of the town, when the biker struck a deer. The 34-year-old rider from Arbroath sustained serious injuries, it is believed to his pelvis and leg. His passenger suffered minor leg injuries. They were treated at the scene before being taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Police briefly closed a stretch of the Arbroath to Brechin road for investigations and to clear the scene. Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
