A 28-year-old drug addict who preyed on a vulnerable 89-year-old has been sentenced to a nine-month Community Payback Order.
Ishbel McGregor, of Fintryside, Dundee, appeared for sentence having earlier admitted offences including behaving in a threatening manner towards the 89-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman in Kirriemuir between September 1 and 8 last year and breaching bail.
Fiscal depute Hannah Kennedy said McGregor had pressured family friends to answer calls from her, let them into her home and give her money.
In one case involving the 89-year-old, £20 was handed over, but the court heard the estimates of the sums involved could have been as much as £2,000.
A further case against McGregor was continued until May 17 to allow her progress to be monitored.
