VIDEO: Third Stone of Destiny… and it’s a genuine fake

For decades there has been speculation that the Stone of Destiny stolen from Westminster Abbey by a group of Scottish students in 1950 was never returned but kept in Scotland.
It is claimed that a fake stone was left at Arbroath Abbey the following year, to be returned to London and that the real stone remained hidden.
But now a third Stone of Destiny has emerged at a display of notable vehicles in Angus.
Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club based in Glamis is displaying a Ford Popular from the early 1950s, similar to the vehicle used by the students to transport the stone from London.
And the display also has the club’s very own Stone of Destiny.
“With there being a bit of controversy about how many Stones of Destiny there are, we thought we’ll have another one albeit our one’s made out of polystyrene,” said club chairman Allan Burt, above.
The display is free and open from 9.30am to 4pm until Sunday.
