Police are continuing enquiries into the death of a 45-year-old woman whose body was found off the Angus coast on Sunday.
The woman’s body was recovered near Arbroath harbour by the crew of fishing boat Telstar around 11.45am.
A Tayside Division spokesman said: “Police Scotland continue to make enquiries into the sudden death of a 45-year-old woman whose body was found in the water at Arbroath Harbour at about 11.45am yesterday morning.
“The family have been informed and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.
“Anyone who was in the area of Arbroath Harbour during the early hours of Sunday morning and has information that could assist officers with their enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
The RNLI inshore lifeboat Robert Fergusson assisted in retrieving the body.Its volunteer crew had assisted in an unrelated incident on Saturday.
A spokesman said: “At around 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon a request was received from HM Coastguard for assistance at an incident close to the town’s harbour.
“There were no casualties and the matter was brought to a safe conclusion following intervention by an Arbroath RNLI crew member and Police Scotland officers.
“On Sunday afternoon at 12.20pm a second launch of the weekend saw the volunteer RNLI crew assist in the recovery of a body which had been found at sea by a fishing boat.”
